MARYBANK
Marybank is one of the greatest surprises of my career as a celebrant. Firstly, because it’s just around the corner from where I grew up and I never knew it was there. And secondly, because it’s one of the most beautiful venues in South Australia, it has everything – charming rustic barn, city views, bushland, vineyards, beautifully manicured gardens and its only minutes from the CBD.
Built in 1842 and purchased by the Fox family in 1852 Marybank has always been a working family farm of vineyards, oranges, dairy cows, pigs and market gardens. Today it still has a vineyard, market gardens, a hobby orchard, chickens and cows. In 2013 Brie (6th generation Fox), husband Billy and their children moved back to the ancestral home to start taking an active part in the farm. With 25 years’ experience in restaurants and hospitality Brie and Billy wanted to give couples the opportunity to marry at their beautiful family farm. After all everyone in their family had married there so why shouldn’t others have the opportunity.
Marybank is still a small family owned and operated business and that is part of the charm. They still do all the gardening, maintenance and live in the original homestead. You don’t need to worry about communicating with different venue coordinators or the risk of them quitting before your big day. Brie is it! She is with you from beginning to end. And if you’re not talking to Brie about your big day then you’re talking to Billy about the food. And you’ll be sure to see Dad hanging around the gardens at some point.
Marybank is quickly becoming famous for their weddings and have been recognised two years in a row as South Australia’s Best Ceremony Venue by Australian Bridal Industry Association. It’s not just the gorgeous venue couples are raving about, it’s Billy’s food, big quantities and finger licking good. Brie and Billy understand that weddings can be expensive so they are determined to ensure weddings at Marybank are not only picture perfect but great value for money.
When I asked Brie what she loves about weddings she said ‘I love the ceremony and the lead up. All the excitement, seeing the couple walk down the aisle and I love hearing the songs that couples choose. It really makes my heart skip and reminds me of my wedding day. Creating such fond and loveable memories for couples is exhilarating.’
Brie and Billy are not just great at what they do, they are gorgeous people. I felt so welcomed at my first Marybank wedding and have loved watching their continued success. They really are the perfect personalities to plan a wedding with. I can’t wait for my next Marybank wedding.
If you are looking for a rustic and warm wedding venue or would like a cheeky get away in a beautiful bed and breakfast just minutes from the city then you need to have a look at Marybank.
